Note: Parents/guardians of 2025 Sec 1 students will be automatically onboarded to Parents Gateway and login details for the zoom meeting will be sent by 5pm on Wednesday, 18 December 2024.
Section B: Online Registration Form
As part of the Sec 1 Registration process, we kindly request parents/guardians to take some time to complete this form by Thursday, 19 December 2024. This will enable us to get to know your child/ward better.

Please adhere to your scheduled appointment time. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated. Please note that online orders (Method 1) may take up to Wed, 8 January 2025 for delivery. Students affected by this delay will be excused from bringing their books to school until then.
Section D: Purchase of Uniform for Sec 1

Our school uniform and PE attire are supplied by Jeep Sing. On typical school-days, our students are to wear either the First or Second Uniform as illustrated in the photos above. PE attire is to be worn only during PE lessons.
It is recommended to buy at least 2 shirts or blouses, 3 shorts or skirts and 2 sets of PE attire.

Exchange/Purchase of Uniforms in January 2025
If you require an exchange and/or additional purchase of uniforms in January 2025, the uniform supplier will operate in school on the following dates:
Date: 3 Jan, 9 Jan, 14 Jan from 2 pm to 4 pm
Venue: Located in Canteen (beside school bookshop)
Guidelines for School Socks and Shoes
Students are required to wear either white or black socks.
There are two options for shoes
i. White/black canvas school shoes or
ii. Sports shoes which are all white, black, blue or grey, or a combination of these colours.
There should be no neon colour on any part of the shoes and no fanciful logos or designs.

Section E: Books and Uniform for approved Sec 1 FAS
Sec 1 FAS approved by their Primary Schools
Parent(s)/Guardians of Sec 1 students whose MOE Financial Assistance Scheme (MOEFAS) applications have been approved by their Primary Schools are to make an appointment to collect their books and uniform on-site in Serangoon Garden Secondary School via the appointment link below.
On the day of your appointment, please go to the General Office to collect your MOEFAS approval letter before making your way to the bookshop or uniform shop for collection. Please do not purchase the books and/or uniforms before collecting the MOEFAS approval letter.

New MOEFAS applicants / Applicants for School-based FAS
If you wish to apply for Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS), please go to https://go.gov.sg/moe-efas to submit your FAS application with the required supporting documents. Alternatively, you may submit hardcopy documents to our General Office.
You will be informed of the application outcome once the application has been processed.
Section F: Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)
The use of the Personal Learning Devices (PLD) for teaching and learning aims to enhance digital literacy skills and foster self-directed and collaborative learning in our students. It is essential for all students to bring their PLD to school daily for their lessons.
The school will provide more details to parents in mid-Jan 2025, on the process to purchase a PLD for their children. In the meanwhile, please refer to the resource here for more information about the purchase of PLD.
Section G: Eligibility to Take Subject(s) at a More Demanding Level under Full Subject-Based Banding (applicable only for students whose indicative level for most subjects at the start of Sec 1 is G1 or G2)
Students may choose to offer English Language, Mother Tongue Language, Mathematics, and Science at a more demanding level at the start of Secondary 1 if they meet the eligibility criteria.

Parents/Guardians of eligible students will be notified via Parents Gateway (PG) or email (for those not onboarded to PG) by Thursday, 19 December 2024. Parents can accept the offer by giving consent via PG or by returning the signed form via email by Tuesday, 24 December 2024. Please take care to order/purchase the learning materials for the corresponding subject level (i.e. G3 or G2) your child will be studying.

From Wednesday, 8 January onwards, usual dismissal time will be as follows:
a) Mondays: 2.50 pm
b) Tuesdays to Thursdays: 2 pm
c) Fridays: 12.40 pm
Sec 1 students would be informed of their form class and classroom venue by Friday, 27 December 2024, via Parents Gateway. They will also receive their timetable in the first week of school, and are not required to bring textbooks for Orientation Week. They are, however, required to bring stationery and water bottle daily.
All students are strongly encouraged to have breakfast before attending school each day. In addition to their meals at recess, students are allowed to consume a snack during class, between 9am - 9.10am,while lessons are ongoing. We recommend that students prepare a healthy snack such as a whole-meal sandwich, bun, fruits, nuts or a healthy snack bar. Sweets, chocolates and any form of chips/crackers are discouraged. Regarding drinks, only plain water may be consumed in class.

Parents will learn about how to better support their children as they transit to secondary school, CCA participation, school-based assessment, and purchase of personal learning devices. Parents can also interact with form teachers. |
Section J: School Attire and General Appearance
Sec 1 students are to report in their First uniform (see Section D) on the first day of school.
Considering possible delivery delays for uniforms purchased online during the festive season, Sec 1 students may report to school in their Primary School uniform during the first two weeks of school.
